Spring and Fall Clean Up Events

Preserving the Past, One Clean-Up at a Time

At the Princeton Battlefield Society (PBS), we believe that preserving history begins with protecting the land where it unfolded. That’s why we host annual Spring and Fall Clean-Up Days—hands-on volunteer events dedicated to maintaining the natural and historical integrity of Princeton Battlefield State Park.

These clean-up efforts are more than just landscaping—they are an act of stewardship and remembrance. Each season, volunteers of all ages come together to care for this sacred ground, ensuring it remains a place of education, reflection, and inspiration for generations to come.

Why Clean-Up Days Matter

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Princeton, our work to preserve the battlefield has never been more urgent. Maintaining the grounds through regular clean-up and restoration helps:

  • Protect historic landscapes and features

  • Improve visitor experience and accessibility

  • Prevent overgrowth and erosion

  • Prepare the park for educational tours and public events

  • Demonstrate ongoing community commitment to our shared history

Spring Clean Up

Held each year, our Spring Clean-Up prepares the park for its busiest season. Volunteers help with raking, trail maintenance, brush removal, signage cleaning, and planting where needed.

Fall Clean Up

During the fall months, our Fall Clean-Up focuses on preparing the park for winter and includes leaf clearing, invasive plant removal, and general grounds work before the first frost.

Together, we can preserve the battlefield and honor those who fought for American independence—one rake, wheelbarrow, and cleared path at a time.
